Denis Sheahan, a member of the Class of 1944, wrote the article appearing
in the following 10 pages - about his memories of growing up in Ascension Parish,
Manhattan. Denis joined the Airforce after graduating from LaSalle High School
with the De LaSalle Christian Brothers who taught at Ascension Grammar.
Denis was a scholar/athlete and a doer in School. So when he joined the Military
he landed a position as Historian for the Airforce. After completing his
military commitment, Denis attended Columbia University,
a few city blocks from where he grew up, and then went on the study at the Sorbonne.
After a very successful career as a journalist, Denis and his lovely wife,
Christine Conniff Spouse decided to to found and build what turned
out to be a very popular Magazine, "House" focused on Design,
Architecture, and Lifestyle in the Long island, NY, NJ, CT area.
Denis and his two sons also are producing a Regional TV Series for MSNBC.
Cheers to Denis Sheahan, another of the very successful
products of the neighborhood.
