WATER SHORTAGE BIGGER PROBLEM THAN GLOBAL WARMING
A civilisation that used to lead the world is in ruins—and only the locals can rebuild it
This article from the Economist does not do justice to the Arab Situation.
I have taken a number of senior courses on the Arabs, Mohammed, Israel, Dead Sea Scrolls, etc.
One of the most profound courses was taught my an irishman, bill sullivan: a former military attaché to the Israeli IDF. a consummate expert on the middle east, pakistan, russia and india. he also knew and worked with many of the key players. The primary text was "righteous victims" by benny morris. a very difficult 900 plus pages of seemingly unbiased, fact laden text. other readings included "what went wrong" by bernard lewis from Princeton and "politics of dispossession," highly provocative by edward said.
Our irish professor summed it up: the Arabs never fail to miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
